Pediatric OT Feeding
Our Occupational Therapy Department offers specialized feeding and eating interventions provided by advanced practice, SWC-certified occupational therapists. The program focuses on combining neurophysiological, biomechanical, and orofacial sensory-motor functional performance to establish individualized therapeutic intervention. These evidence-based strategies are designed to support children with feeding challenges by improving orofacial sensory motor functional performance, and overall mealtime participation. Parent education and hands-on coaching are integral parts of our approach, supporting families to carry over techniques into everyday routines for meaningful and lasting progress.
Suck-Swallow Breathe Difficulties
- Prematurity impacting breastfeeding
- Gastrostomy (g-tube)
- Nasogastric Tubes (ng-tube)
- Respiratory deficiency (oxygen dependent)
- Tongue-tie and/or lip-tie
Other Signs Indicating Need for Therapy
- Recurrent gagging, coughing, vomiting when drinking or eating
- Refusal of food and/or drink
- Inability to chew and/or swallow
- Food selectivity by type or texture
